WATCH: Six New Clips from 'The Conjuring' Will Make You Think Twice About Being Alone Jul 2nd 2013, 20:09 The Conjuring is your classic haunted house tale but with a bit of a twist: it's based on the true story of a ghost sleuthing couple who encounter their most terrifying case yet. The film takes place in the 70s (hence the very outdated outfits), and does all the things a good haunted house tale is supposed to do: Ghosts watch you while you sleep at night, doors slam, mysterious ladies appear in empty windows and in your pocket mirrors. There's intensity and buildup. But, Warner Bros. have left the big scares and screams for the big screen (obviously). The film stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Lili Taylor, Ron Livingston, and Joey King. It hits theaters July 19.
